The first 1000 miles

I try to visit up north (remember that's what we say down here in the south when we are going to visit up north) during the summer. Unfortunately, Mike can't usually come with us so we decided to go during his busiest time with all his church duties. That way, he wouldn't even miss us. So first we went to Salt Lake for a couple of days. I had a great time meeting up with my ol' pals Lisa Rasch and Heather Pearmain (sorry, no pictures). It was so fun to catch up and reminisce. Love you girls!
My niece Paige wanted to come hang out with me and the kids and they loved playing with her. We picked up another niece, Emily, and went to Wheeler Farm. It's one of my favorite places to go when we are there. The kids have a great time.. and its free! Except I always spend $2 at the bread store so the kids can feed the ducks! I think their favorite was the snake!

We also had a chance to go to the Oquirrh Mountain Temple Open House. Paige and Leslie came with us and it was so fabulous for the kids to be able to see the temple. It was so beautiful!

Then it was time to get ready to go camping. It was the Larson family reunion (my mom's side) up in Southeastern Idaho. We had hauled all the camping gear and a few things we borrowed because there wasn't enough room to bring it all. Doug had all the toys to take camping and my kids had a great time "helping" him get them ready...

I was a little nervous to take the kids camping without my rock (that would be Mike that I'm referring too) but I knew I would have lots of help from all my family. I have to say, it was a lot of work, but I think the kids had lots of fun hanging out with the cousins...and the dogs. Here are some of the highlights:

We went on an excursion to Bear Lake. It looked pretty overcast but it ended up being a beautiful afternoon. The kids had a blast playing in the water and the beach!

Looks like a lot of fun. Although I don't know if I could have done it solo...you are one brave mama :)The kids all look so cute by the way. I can't believe how much they have grown!
